The salty catering family covers breads, wraps, croutons and rice cake, plus savoury bases such as tahini and kimchi. Over the three months to 4 November 2026 its indexed materials rose 1.1% on average, and they are 2.2% higher than a year ago, slightly ahead of the 2.0% annual average for catering as a whole. Ten of the eleven indexed lines gained ground. The family lists 12 materials in all; only kimchi has no index.
Rice cake led with +2.2% over three months and +1.6% on the year, ahead of crouton at +1.9% (+1.0% on the year). Tahini came next at +1.7%, though it remains 1.2% below its level of a year ago, one of only two lines in the family that are lower on the year.
Most of the family moved as a single block. Panini bread, pita bread, focaccia and plain wheat tortilla each rose 1.4% over three months and 3.6% over a year. The flavoured wraps, spinach wheat tortilla, beetroot wheat tortilla and tomato wheat tortilla, show identical moves. Together these seven lines make up most of the family's risers.
The exception is protein preparation, down 3.4% over three months and 2.1% over a year. It is the only faller in the family over the quarter, has the steepest annual decline among its materials, and posts the weakest three-month reading across all catering materials.
Kimchi has no index. Its note, which runs to 2 November, reports cheaper vegetables in South Korea: cabbage prices were down on 6 October, with restaurants favouring cheaper Chinese imports, and on 18 October green onions and ginger cost markedly less than a year earlier. Packaged kimchi sales at Kurly had risen over three months, an 8 October report said.
