Feta and Parmigiano Reggiano are the only cheeses higher than a year ago. The ten indexed cheeses average +0.9% over the three months to 4 November 2026 and -8.1% over one year, with six up and four down over three months. The family lists twelve materials; Mont d'Or and Roquefort have notes but no public index.
Feta tops the table at +3.7% over three months and +10.4% over a year. News on 21 August reported rising costs and reduced output for Greek feta after a livestock disease outbreak led to the loss of large numbers of sheep and goats. Parmigiano Reggiano added 1.1% and 11.0%; on 22 October, prices rose across all ageing categories at the Parma commodity exchange.
On 24 October, Parmigiano Reggiano production was reported to be running too fast, and the Consortium tightened its rules. Maasdam (+3.2%), Edam (+2.4%) and Gouda (+2.0%) edged up over three months but remain between 10.9% and 13.4% lower on the year.
Mozzarella gained 2.8% and is 11.3% down on the year; a note from 30 July described mozzarella prices rising on the global cheese market while Cheddar fell. Gorgonzola fell furthest over three months, -2.9%, and is 8.7% lower on the year. Cheddar lost 2.3%, and 25.0% over a year, the heaviest annual drop among cheeses.
Emmental slipped 0.9% and Grana Padano 0.5%. Wholesale Grana Padano prices were reported lower on 26 October, and on 23 October Confagricoltura Brescia described the milk market as in crisis. Among the unindexed cheeses, Mont d'Or production in the Doubs started on 15 August despite drought, and for Roquefort the OPBR refused a cut in the sheep milk price on 13 August.
