French agricultural unions reported on 9 August 2026 that forage production was in free fall amid heat waves and drought. In Corrèze, livestock farmers faced skyrocketing hay prices, scorched pastures and very low feed stocks on 23 August. On 2 September, tightening corn supplies in the United States and the European Union had pushed corn prices higher. Statistics Canada estimated on 16 September that Canada's 2026-27 wheat production would reach 36.1 million tonnes, against 40.6 million tonnes the previous year.
