Three of them, onion compote, coarse salt and salt, have no index.
Three onions lead the family. Yellow onion gained 13.5% over three months, small white onion 9.7% and white onion 7.5%; small white onion is also up 21.5% on the year. A 30 October note from Ukraine reported the first rise in onion prices there since mid-summer.
Red onion rose less, by 4.0%. In Ukraine on 13 October, red onion producer prices kept falling, with weak demand and rising supply cited. On 21 October, tons of Cipolla Rossa di Tropea IGP were reported blocked.
Garlic was almost flat over three months at +0.3% but is 6.1% lower than a year ago. In Karnataka, garlic prices rose on 22 October as supplies fell sharply, with drought and lower production cited.
Mustard and pickle each added 2.9%, Dijon mustard 1.6%. Drought forced the Côte-d'Or mustard sector to cut water use, a 22 October note reported; as early as 4 October, water restrictions were forcing manufacturers to reduce activity, and on 21 October a shortage threat was reported for French supermarkets.
On the downside, shallot lost 2.7%, capers 0.3% and each of the three olives 0.2%. For green olive, growers in northern Cáceres halted their harvest on 29 September, refusing to sell at a loss once prices fell below production costs. Salt has no index; Noirmoutier salt workers reported a record 2026 harvest on 17 September.
