Sugar and sweeteners are up on three months and down on the year. As of 4 November 2026 the family average is +1.0% over three months, a shade above the 0.8% for Ingredients overall, but -3.7% over one year. Eleven materials rose over three months and thirteen fell, so the gain rests on a handful of strong movers.
White sugars did the lifting. White sugar, granulated sugar, caster sugar and fine sugar each rose 5.0% on three months, with caramel sugar and caramel at +4.4% and beet sugar at +4.2%. On the year all of them are still lower, by 3.7% to 5.3%.
Beet features heavily in the notes dated 2 November. On 26 October, an EU beet deficit was reported to support white sugar prices, and weak beet yields to tighten the beet sugar balance. On 29 October, drought was reported to have sharply cut beet yields in Seine-et-Marne, and on 30 October European white sugar was described as weaker, with a new processing season under way.
Cane sugars moved the other way. Cane sugar slipped 0.6% over three months, while brown sugar, cane brown sugar and muscovado sugar lost 1.4%. The cane notes say Brazilian sugar prices rose on 29 October after reduced cane crushing was reported, and the cane sugar note also mentions renewed weakness on concern about Brazilian exporters selling.
Dextrose and glucose weigh on the annual figure. Dextrose is 10.3% lower than a year ago, more than any other material in the family over twelve months, and glucose 7.8%. Grape syrup has the biggest three-month drop, -4.0%, yet is 3.5% higher on the year. Maple syrup edged up 1.0%; its note says Quebec's strategic reserve was described on 27 October as depleted or nearly empty.
