Mean of the LiveQuote indexes of 91 materials, as of 4 November 2026.

Vegetable prices tracked by LiveQuote rose 4.1% on average over the three months to 4 November 2026, and 8.3% over the past year. The group holds 101 materials, 91 of them with an index: 61 rose over three months, 29 fell and one was flat. It spans mushrooms, cabbages, squashes, root vegetables, pulses and chillies.

Family averages are far apart. Summer vegetables gained 16.1%, with 20 of 22 indices higher, while squashes lost 13.6% and all six of them fell. Between those poles, green vegetables rose 7.2%, stalk and branch vegetables 5.0% with every index up, and mushrooms 4.3%. Cabbages (+0.6%), root vegetables (-0.5%) and legumes (0.0%) were close to unchanged on average, though inside each of them some materials rose and others fell.

Tomatoes top the whole group. Tomato rose 57.2%, just ahead of red cherry tomato at 57.0% and yellow cherry tomato at 56.5%, with zucchini next at +48.1%. Market notes reported a record EU average tomato price for September in the European Commission's 16 October update, and Italian wholesale cherry tomato prices had risen sharply by 14 October.

Squashes took the heaviest losses. Onion squash fell 31.5%, squash 17.2% and butternut 16.8%, though all three are still slightly up on the year. For squash, a 16 October note reported a record German organic harvest, with production gains increasing price pressure. Elsewhere, broccoli dropped 16.3% and kale 13.3%.

The one-year view is firmer: eight of the ten families are higher. Celeriac is up 33.5% and potato 29.9%. On 22 October, news reported European potato yields well below normal after a very hot, dry summer. Legumes are the weakest family over twelve months at -5.7%, with chickpea down 15.4% and green lentils down 10.6%.
