Mean of the LiveQuote indexes of 4 materials, as of 4 November 2026.

Only four of the eight mushrooms in this family carry a LiveQuote index, and as of 4 November 2026 all four are higher over three months. Their average gain is 4.3%, slightly ahead of the 4.1% for vegetables as a whole. Over a year the order flips: mushrooms are up 3.0%, against 8.3% for the wider group.

Oyster mushroom leads at +6.5% over three months and is 1.7% up on the year, just ahead of shiitake at +6.0%, which is still 0.8% down over twelve months. Black fungus added 3.7% and has the family's strongest annual gain, 11.3%.

Button mushroom barely moved: +1.1% over three months and -0.3% over a year. Market notes described the champignon market as sluggish on 29 September. On 14 October, bacterial blotch was reported widespread in white mushrooms in the United States; the disease cuts yields, shortens shelf life and can leave mushrooms unsaleable.

Wild species have no index, so the dated notes are the only read on them. In the Val-de-Ruz, lack of rain left summer boletes and chanterelles almost impossible to find on 26 August. In the Médoc, drought and high heat made porcini and girolle harvests plummet, a 23 September report said. In Stoumont, rules on mushroom picking, chanterelles included, were becoming stricter on 7 October.

Poland told a different story. A glut of forest mushrooms was visible at the Dąbrowa Górnicza market on 29 September, and chanterelles were among the species dominating Łódź markets on 5 October, with supply described as plentiful. In the Dordogne, the return of rain allowed penny buns, or ceps, to grow, according to a note dated 21 October.
