Soy sauce carried this small family over the past three months. As of 4 November 2026, soy sauce is up 3.5% on three months and 2.0% on the year, and mushroom soy sauce shows the same two moves to the decimal. If you buy both, they have tracked each other on both horizons.
That leaves salsa sauce as the one material heading the other way: down 0.8% over three months and 4.4% over twelve months. It is the only sauce lower on the year as well. It has no market note for the period, so there is nothing to add beyond the figures themselves.
Taken together, the three sauces average +2.1% over three months, well ahead of the +0.8% average for the Ingredients group as a whole. Two of the three are up on that horizon. Over one year the family average sits close to zero, at -0.1%, since the salsa decline cancels out most of the soy sauce gain in the arithmetic.
The soy sauce market note, dated 2 November, deals with trade and capacity rather than prices. It reports that on 28 September Japan's 2025 soy sauce shipments were put at their lowest in decades, amid a westernized diet. On 19 September, Kikkoman announced a third soy sauce plant in the United States, and on 24 October Indonesia published the value of its soy sauce exports.
None of these items is tied to a price move in the note, so treat them as background, not as an explanation of the index. For a buyer covering both soy sauce lines, the practical point is that they moved together, while salsa sauce is the only one of the three lower over three months and over the year.
